Solar batteries in Tweed Heads South, with the rebate applied
Use your own solar at night and keep essentials running in a blackout. The federal battery discount comes straight off your quote.
Solar Batteries Tweed Heads South: local, honest, done right
Feed-in tariffs have fallen to a few cents, while evening power still costs around 30 cents or more per kWh. A battery stores the solar you would otherwise sell cheaply and uses it after sunset, which is where the real savings now are for Tweed Heads South households.
Tweed homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. NSW also pays a separate incentive when you connect your battery to an approved virtual power plant (VPP). Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tapered, so the first 14kWh gets the full rate and larger batteries get less per kWh. We will show you the sweet spot for your home.
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage. We look after Tweed Heads South and the surrounding suburbs of Fingal Head, Tweed Heads and Kirra, so a free on-site measure in 2486 is easy to book.

About Tweed Heads South
Close to 7,950 residents were counted here in 2021. Weekends revolve around sport: Dave Burns Field hosts South Tweed RLFC and the Tweed Banora Colts cricketers, Arkinstall Park is home to Tweed United Soccer Club, and golfers head to the Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club. There is also a skatepark on Heffron Street, right beside Tweed River High School.
Being low-lying river country at around 6 metres above sea level, it pays to mount inverters and batteries up off the ground and well clear of any garage floor that could take water in a big wet.

Solar batteries in Tweed Heads South: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735Is a home battery worth it in Tweed Heads South?
For most households that export a lot of solar and use power in the evening, yes. With the federal discount, many batteries now pay back in roughly 6 to 9 years, and you get blackout protection as a bonus. We will run the numbers on your actual bills before you commit.
How much is the battery rebate?
Tweed homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. NSW also pays a separate incentive when you connect your battery to an approved virtual power plant (VPP). The certificate rate drops every six months from January 2027, so the discount is worth less the longer you wait.
Can you add a battery to my existing solar?
Usually, yes. Most systems can take an AC-coupled battery without touching your panels. If your inverter is old or failing, a hybrid inverter replacement can be the better long-term option. We will check on site.
Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?
Only if it is installed with backup. Most batteries we install include backup for essential circuits, and some can back up the whole home. We will explain what will and will not run before you choose.
What about free midday power plans?
Retailers now offer free power in the middle of the day on some plans in NSW. A battery can soak up that free window as well as your own solar, then run your home through the expensive evening peak.
