About Heathwood
Heathwood was carved out of Acacia Ridge and became a suburb in its own right in 1970, although some records list 1975 as its start. The name honours an early settler of the district. Since then the area has developed along two separate tracks, with houses going up in the north and industry taking hold in the south west.
The residential north has many newly built large homes, where roofs are usually unshaded and big summer air conditioning loads make solar paired with a battery a practical fit.
