Why Chermside homes choose RS Energy for solar batteries

Feed-in tariffs have fallen to a few cents, while evening power still costs around 30 cents or more per kWh. A battery stores the solar you would otherwise sell cheaply and uses it after sunset, which is where the real savings now are for Chermside households.

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tapered, so the first 14kWh gets the full rate and larger batteries get less per kWh. We will show you the sweet spot for your home.

Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe. Our solar batteries work in Chermside also covers neighbouring Kedron, Chermside West and Wavell Heights, all within about 2km.

Chermside: a local snapshot

Westfield Chermside dominates, with more than 480 stores, a 16-screen cinema and a bus station alongside, about 9.8 kilometres by road from the city. Downfall Creek runs through 7th Brigade Park and its sports fields. There is also an aquatic centre and water park, a council library on Hamilton Road, the Kedron Wavell Services Club and the Wheller Gardens retirement village.

Plenty of post-war homes sit alongside retirement living here, and households with someone home during the day tend to use more solar directly, making system sizing simpler.

Is a home battery worth it in Chermside?

For most households that export a lot of solar and use power in the evening, yes. With the federal discount, many batteries now pay back in roughly 6 to 9 years, and you get blackout protection as a bonus. We will run the numbers on your actual bills before you commit.

How much is the battery rebate?

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. The certificate rate drops every six months from January 2027, so the discount is worth less the longer you wait.

Can you add a battery to my existing solar?

Usually, yes. Most systems can take an AC-coupled battery without touching your panels. If your inverter is old or failing, a hybrid inverter replacement can be the better long-term option. We will check on site.

Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?

Only if it is installed with backup. Most batteries we install include backup for essential circuits, and some can back up the whole home. We will explain what will and will not run before you choose.

What about free midday power plans?

Retailers now offer free power in the middle of the day on some plans in South East Queensland. A battery can soak up that free window as well as your own solar, then run your home through the expensive evening peak.

Do you service Chermside 4032 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Chermside is part of our Brisbane Northside service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Kedron, Chermside West, Wavell Heights, Stafford Heights. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
