Solar batteries in Upper Kedron, with the rebate applied
Use your own solar at night and keep essentials running in a blackout. The federal battery discount comes straight off your quote.
Solar Batteries Upper Kedron: local, honest, done right
Feed-in tariffs have fallen to a few cents, while evening power still costs around 30 cents or more per kWh. A battery stores the solar you would otherwise sell cheaply and uses it after sunset, which is where the real savings now are for Upper Kedron households.
Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tapered, so the first 14kWh gets the full rate and larger batteries get less per kWh. We will show you the sweet spot for your home.
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning. We look after Upper Kedron and the surrounding suburbs of Ferny Grove, The Gap and Ferny Hills, so a free on-site measure in 4055 is easy to book.
- Plenty of Upper Kedron properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

About Upper Kedron
Two tributaries of Kedron Brook, Kedron Creek and Cedar Creek, begin in this suburb on the edge of Brisbane Forest Park. Around 5,800 people live here, about 12 km from the city. New lots range from bush blocks to terrace-style homes. There are no schools within the suburb, so families use Ferny Grove State School and Ferny Grove State High.
New homes going up on the big estate can be designed with roof space and battery wiring planned in, while bush blocks on the forest edge may need careful panel placement to avoid tree shade.

Solar batteries in Upper Kedron: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735Is a home battery worth it in Upper Kedron?
For most households that export a lot of solar and use power in the evening, yes. With the federal discount, many batteries now pay back in roughly 6 to 9 years, and you get blackout protection as a bonus. We will run the numbers on your actual bills before you commit.
How much is the battery rebate?
Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. The certificate rate drops every six months from January 2027, so the discount is worth less the longer you wait.
Can you add a battery to my existing solar?
Usually, yes. Most systems can take an AC-coupled battery without touching your panels. If your inverter is old or failing, a hybrid inverter replacement can be the better long-term option. We will check on site.
Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?
Only if it is installed with backup. Most batteries we install include backup for essential circuits, and some can back up the whole home. We will explain what will and will not run before you choose.
What about free midday power plans?
Retailers now offer free power in the middle of the day on some plans in South East Queensland. A battery can soak up that free window as well as your own solar, then run your home through the expensive evening peak.
