Getting to know Clear Island Waters
Dairy farms and wetlands once covered this ground. In 1967 a group of golfers paid $43,240 for Bruce Small's 92-acre Cypress Gardens site and built the Surfers Paradise Golf Club. Italian families founded the Italo-Australian Club in 1976, which drew more of their community to the area. Official naming and boundaries came on 25 February 1989, and the canal estates of Island Quay, Rhode Island and Santa Cruz were approved in the early 1990s.
Water defines this compact 4.3 km² suburb, with homes built along the man-made canals of Clear Island Lake and Boobegan Creek. Fairway Drive carries the golf club and the Surfers Paradise Tennis Club, and Merrimac F.C. plays out of the north-eastern corner under the Italo-Australian Club. St Vincent's Primary School and Sacred Heart Parish Church sit side by side, both arriving in 1986.

Solar panels in Clear Island Waters: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Clear Island Waters?
Most Clear Island Waters homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Clear Island Waters?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Clear Island Waters?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.
