Jindalee: a local snapshot
Grazing and dairy cattle had the run of this land until well into the twentieth century. Farms from the Wolston Estate went to auction in October 1901, but the real change came in 1960 when the Hooker Centenary Project began carving out streets. The name is said to mean bare hills in an Aboriginal language. Jindalee State School opened in January 1966.
Older detached homes west of the motorway generally have their own roof and switchboard, making them simple solar and battery candidates. Townhouses in the newer riverside estate will need to work within body corporate rules.
