Why Jindalee homes choose RS Energy for solar batteries

Feed-in tariffs have fallen to a few cents, while evening power still costs around 30 cents or more per kWh. A battery stores the solar you would otherwise sell cheaply and uses it after sunset, which is where the real savings now are for Jindalee households.

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tapered, so the first 14kWh gets the full rate and larger batteries get less per kWh. We will show you the sweet spot for your home.

Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning. Our solar batteries work in Jindalee also covers neighbouring Mount Ommaney, Sinnamon Park and Kenmore, all within about 2km.

Jindalee: a local snapshot

The Brisbane River runs along the northern edge, crossed by the Centenary Bridge and motorway. About 5,300 people live on 3.1 square kilometres, 15.2 km south-west of the city. Two large retail centres face each other across Sinnamon Road. West of the motorway it is mostly individual houses, while a newer townhouse estate sits to the east near the river, golf course and boat ramp.

Older detached homes west of the motorway generally have their own roof and switchboard, making them simple solar and battery candidates. Townhouses in the newer riverside estate will need to work within body corporate rules.

Is a home battery worth it in Jindalee?

For most households that export a lot of solar and use power in the evening, yes. With the federal discount, many batteries now pay back in roughly 6 to 9 years, and you get blackout protection as a bonus. We will run the numbers on your actual bills before you commit.

How much is the battery rebate?

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. The certificate rate drops every six months from January 2027, so the discount is worth less the longer you wait.

Can you add a battery to my existing solar?

Usually, yes. Most systems can take an AC-coupled battery without touching your panels. If your inverter is old or failing, a hybrid inverter replacement can be the better long-term option. We will check on site.

Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?

Only if it is installed with backup. Most batteries we install include backup for essential circuits, and some can back up the whole home. We will explain what will and will not run before you choose.

What about free midday power plans?

Retailers now offer free power in the middle of the day on some plans in South East Queensland. A battery can soak up that free window as well as your own solar, then run your home through the expensive evening peak.
