About Springbrook
Once known as the Numinbah Plateau, this country was a timber reserve until 1906, when it opened for farming and James Hardy and other families came up from northern New South Wales. Dairying proved hard going, so settlers cleared timber instead. A road went in during the mid 1920s, the first car arrived in June 1926, and tourism took over. The early name Springwood became Springbrook to stop mail going to the Blue Mountains.
On a rainforest plateau with cloud, mist and tall trees, careful shade checks and a battery sized for runs of grey days matter more than raw panel count, especially for homes a long way from town.
