Why Red Hill homes choose RS Energy for solar batteries

Feed-in tariffs have fallen to a few cents, while evening power still costs around 30 cents or more per kWh. A battery stores the solar you would otherwise sell cheaply and uses it after sunset, which is where the real savings now are for Red Hill households.

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tapered, so the first 14kWh gets the full rate and larger batteries get less per kWh. We will show you the sweet spot for your home.

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter. Our solar batteries work in Red Hill also covers neighbouring Kelvin Grove, Paddington and Petrie Terrace, all within about 1km.

  • Many Red Hill homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Red Hill: a local snapshot

Very hilly and mainly residential, Red Hill is about 3.2 km north west of the city. St Brigid's Church stands out on the skyline. Shops and small businesses cluster along Musgrave and Waterworks roads, and the old skate arena reopened as a five screen cinema in 2019. Gilbert Park hosts the Broncos training ground. Heritage Queenslanders line many streets, with buses replacing the trams in 1968.

Steep streets mean roofs face every direction, so heritage Queenslanders on the high side often get strong sun while homes lower down may need east and west split arrays to make up for hill shade.

Is a home battery worth it in Red Hill?

For most households that export a lot of solar and use power in the evening, yes. With the federal discount, many batteries now pay back in roughly 6 to 9 years, and you get blackout protection as a bonus. We will run the numbers on your actual bills before you commit.

How much is the battery rebate?

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. The certificate rate drops every six months from January 2027, so the discount is worth less the longer you wait.

Can you add a battery to my existing solar?

Usually, yes. Most systems can take an AC-coupled battery without touching your panels. If your inverter is old or failing, a hybrid inverter replacement can be the better long-term option. We will check on site.

Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?

Only if it is installed with backup. Most batteries we install include backup for essential circuits, and some can back up the whole home. We will explain what will and will not run before you choose.

What about free midday power plans?

Retailers now offer free power in the middle of the day on some plans in South East Queensland. A battery can soak up that free window as well as your own solar, then run your home through the expensive evening peak.

Do you service Red Hill 4059 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Red Hill is part of our Inner Brisbane service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Kelvin Grove, Paddington, Petrie Terrace, Milton. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
