Going solar in Red Hill
Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Red Hill is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Red Hill homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Red Hill: history and local area
Steep slopes of red soil and rock gave Red Hill its plain spoken name. Allotments were auctioned from around 1880, making it among Brisbane's older suburbs. St Brigid's school opened in 1881, Windsor Road Baptist Church in 1888, and the hilltop church followed in 1914. The area belonged to Ithaca, first as a shire from 1887 and then a town from 1903, until Brisbane absorbed it in 1925.
Very hilly and mainly residential, Red Hill is about 3.2 km north west of the city. St Brigid's Church stands out on the skyline. Shops and small businesses cluster along Musgrave and Waterworks roads, and the old skate arena reopened as a five screen cinema in 2019. Gilbert Park hosts the Broncos training ground. Heritage Queenslanders line many streets, with buses replacing the trams in 1968.
Steep streets mean roofs face every direction, so heritage Queenslanders on the high side often get strong sun while homes lower down may need east and west split arrays to make up for hill shade.
