Why Piggabeen homes choose RS Energy for solar panels

Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Piggabeen quote starts with a free measure of your roof.

A typical 6.6kW system in Piggabeen makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Piggabeen is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.

The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage. Our solar panels work in Piggabeen also covers neighbouring Currumbin Valley, Bilambil and Bilambil Heights, all within about 5km.

  • Plenty of Piggabeen properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Piggabeen: a local snapshot

Dairy farming once dominated Piggabeen, and both the Old Piggabeen Hall and the local school were established in 1919. The name is said to mean 'Valley of the Palms', linked to the Bangalow palms that grow here and to the Bundjalung word bigibin. Campbell Hill, once known as Mount Campbell, is the local high point.

Piggabeen Creek runs along a valley that leads north-west toward the Queensland border. The land here is part of the old Tweed Volcano shield, the same ancient system centred on Mount Warning. Today the area is mainly acreage homesites and small hobby farms, and 327 people were counted in 2011, about 35 metres above sea level.

How much does solar cost in Piggabeen?

Most Piggabeen homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in Piggabeen?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Essential Energy export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Piggabeen?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.

Do you service Piggabeen 2486 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Piggabeen is part of our Tweed Heads & Tweed Coast service area in the Tweed Shire Council area, and we regularly work in Currumbin Valley, Bilambil, Bilambil Heights, Cobaki Lakes. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
