Why Gumdale homes choose RS Energy for solar batteries

Feed-in tariffs have fallen to a few cents, while evening power still costs around 30 cents or more per kWh. A battery stores the solar you would otherwise sell cheaply and uses it after sunset, which is where the real savings now are for Gumdale households.

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tapered, so the first 14kWh gets the full rate and larger batteries get less per kWh. We will show you the sweet spot for your home.

Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake. Our solar batteries work in Gumdale also covers neighbouring Wakerley, Chandler and Ransome, all within about 3km.

Gumdale: a local snapshot

Roughly 95 per cent of Gumdale is acreage, with lots commonly 5,000 to 10,000 square metres, and only a small slice set aside for new development. It is an outer suburb about 17.7 km east south east of the CBD. Gumdale State School offers Prep to Year 6 with a special education program, and Eastside Village shopping centre now stands where St Francis' Anglican Church used to be.

Half acre to full acre lots leave room for ground mounted arrays, sheds with their own panels and big batteries, which suits households running pools, pumps and workshops on their acreage.

Is a home battery worth it in Gumdale?

For most households that export a lot of solar and use power in the evening, yes. With the federal discount, many batteries now pay back in roughly 6 to 9 years, and you get blackout protection as a bonus. We will run the numbers on your actual bills before you commit.

How much is the battery rebate?

Queensland homes get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which takes roughly $250 per kWh off the first 14kWh at current certificate prices. Queensland has no separate state battery rebate open right now, and anyone telling you otherwise is out of date. The certificate rate drops every six months from January 2027, so the discount is worth less the longer you wait.

Can you add a battery to my existing solar?

Usually, yes. Most systems can take an AC-coupled battery without touching your panels. If your inverter is old or failing, a hybrid inverter replacement can be the better long-term option. We will check on site.

Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?

Only if it is installed with backup. Most batteries we install include backup for essential circuits, and some can back up the whole home. We will explain what will and will not run before you choose.

What about free midday power plans?

Retailers now offer free power in the middle of the day on some plans in South East Queensland. A battery can soak up that free window as well as your own solar, then run your home through the expensive evening peak.

Do you service Gumdale 4154 and nearby suburbs?
