Solar panels for Cudgen, planned around your home
Whether it is your first system or you are replacing an old one, we size solar for Cudgen homes around real usage, not the biggest number we can fit on the roof.
A typical 6.6kW system in Cudgen makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Cudgen is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage. From Cudgen to nearby Kings Forest and Casuarina, we quote every job in person so the price you sign is the price you pay.

Getting to know Cudgen
Cudgen takes its name from the Yugambe word kidhin, meaning red clay. The land is traditionally that of the Coodjingburra clan of the Minyungbal people, part of the Yugambeh nation. The name was once also attached to the nearby headland, which is why Kingscliff settled on a different name in 1926 to avoid confusion.
The 2016 census counted 857 residents, split evenly between men and women. Cudgen sits about 14 km south of Tweed Heads, with Terranora, Chinderah, Kingscliff and Stotts Creek as neighbours. The Cudgen Hornets rugby league side carries the name into the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League, playing out of Ned Byrne Field in Kingscliff.

Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Cudgen?
Most Cudgen homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Cudgen?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Essential Energy export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Cudgen?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.
Do you service Cudgen 2487 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Cudgen is part of our Tweed Heads & Tweed Coast service area in the Tweed Shire Council area, and we regularly work in Kings Forest, Casuarina, Kingscliff, Duranbah. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
