Why Chinderah homes choose RS Energy for solar panels

Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Chinderah quote starts with a free measure of your roof.

A typical 6.6kW system in Chinderah makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Chinderah is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.

The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage. Our solar panels work in Chinderah also covers neighbouring Banora Point, Kingscliff and Fingal Head, all within about 4km.

  • Low-lying pockets of Chinderah sit inside council flood mapping. Where it matters we mount inverters and batteries above the flood planning level and keep isolators easy to reach.

Chinderah: a local snapshot

Chinderah is part of the traditional lands of the Ngandowal and Minyungbal-speaking Bundjalung people. One of the few historical records is a photo of Barney's Point Bridge spanning the Tweed River around 1940. That crossing opened in 1936 and drew traffic away from older river towns such as Tumbulgum, showing how the river has long shaped this spot just south of Tweed Heads.

Around 1,640 people lived in Chinderah in 2021. The town sits on the Tweed River with an industrial estate, a golf course and a small shopping precinct, so working sites and homes sit side by side. Kingscliff is right next door for the beach, and Tweed Heads lies a little further north along the river.

How much does solar cost in Chinderah?

Most Chinderah homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in Chinderah?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Essential Energy export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Chinderah?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.

Do you service Chinderah 2487 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Chinderah is part of our Tweed Heads & Tweed Coast service area in the Tweed Shire Council area, and we regularly work in Banora Point, Kingscliff, Fingal Head, Cudgen. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
