Going solar in Cudgen
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Cudgen is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.

Cudgen: history and local area
Cudgen takes its name from the Yugambe word kidhin, meaning red clay. The land is traditionally that of the Coodjingburra clan of the Minyungbal people, part of the Yugambeh nation. The name was once also attached to the nearby headland, which is why Kingscliff settled on a different name in 1926 to avoid confusion.
The 2016 census counted 857 residents, split evenly between men and women. Cudgen sits about 14 km south of Tweed Heads, with Terranora, Chinderah, Kingscliff and Stotts Creek as neighbours. The Cudgen Hornets rugby league side carries the name into the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League, playing out of Ned Byrne Field in Kingscliff.
Cudgen is only a short distance from the Kingscliff coast, so even homes away from the beach should consider corrosion-rated rails and fixings, and panels certified for salt mist exposure.
