Going solar in Karawatha
Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Karawatha is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Karawatha: history and local area
The name comes from an Aboriginal word for a place with pine trees. The suburb was once called Berrinba, a name that later moved to the Logan City suburb just to the south. Very little building ever happened here, and most of the land stayed as bush, which is why it remains one of Brisbane's least populated suburbs, with just 337 people in 2021.
Most of its 8.6 square kilometres is Karawatha Forest, a large area of undeveloped parkland, so there are only a handful of buildings. There are no shops, schools or stations listed within the suburb. It sits around 22 km south-east of the Brisbane CBD, with residents relying on neighbouring suburbs for everyday needs.
The few homes here sit beside dense forest, so tree shading and bushfire-aware placement of inverters and batteries are worth thinking about before installing a system.
