Solar panels for Macleay Island, planned around your home
Whether it is your first system or you are replacing an old one, we size solar for Macleay Island homes around real usage, not the biggest number we can fit on the roof.
A typical 6.6kW system in Macleay Island makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Macleay Island is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
The Redlands coast runs from Capalaba and Birkdale through Cleveland and Victoria Point to Redland Bay and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with plenty of larger blocks around Mount Cotton and Sheldon. From Macleay Island to nearby Coochiemudlo Island and Victoria Point, we quote every job in person so the price you sign is the price you pay.
- Being close to the water, Macleay Island gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.
- We plan island jobs around the barge timetable and bring everything needed in one trip, so your install is not dragged out.

Getting to know Macleay Island
Before it had an official name it was Tim Shea's Island, after a convict who lived there for more than ten years. Surveyor James Warner later named it after Alexander Macleay, Colonial Secretary of New South Wales from 1825 to 1837. In 1886, 308 marine villa sites went to auction, the state school opened in 1986, and a building rush came in 2007 and 2008.
The fourth largest island in Moreton Bay is 6.5 km long and joined to Perulpa Island by a causeway. Its shoreline mixes littoral rainforest, rocky points, mangroves and spots like Sandpiper Beach and Potts Point. The ruins of Campbell's Saltworks and Tim Shea's wetland are heritage sites. Plenty of homes are holiday or weekend places, and residents travel by ferry from Redland Bay.

Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Macleay Island?
Most Macleay Island homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Macleay Island?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Macleay Island?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.
Do you service Macleay Island 4184 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Macleay Island is part of our Redlands service area in the Redland City Council area, and we regularly work in Coochiemudlo Island, Victoria Point, Russell Island, Redland Bay. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
