Solar Panels Mitchelton: local, honest, done right

Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every Mitchelton system around your roof, your shading and your bills.

A typical 6.6kW system in Mitchelton makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Mitchelton is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning. We look after Mitchelton and the surrounding suburbs of Gaythorne, Keperra and Arana Hills, so a free on-site measure in 4053 is easy to book.

About Mitchelton

Nicholas Mitchell's estate, called Mitchelton by 1875, gave the suburb its name, though St Matthews Anglican Church on the hill is older, built between 1867 and 1869. Subdivision began in the 1890s, and the Oxford Park Estate sold in 1913 near the coming railway. Grovely State School opened in 1916 and took the Mitchelton name in 1923.

Most of the suburb sits on a hillside facing north, and many Queenslanders line its leafy streets. Roughly 9,250 people live here, 9.6 km by road from the city. Mitchelton and Oxford Park stations sit on the Ferny Grove line, Brookside Shopping Centre is on Osborne Road, and the Kedron Brook bikeway is close by. Five schools operate within the suburb.

How much does solar cost in Mitchelton?

Most Mitchelton homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in Mitchelton?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Mitchelton?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.

Do you service Mitchelton 4053 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Mitchelton is part of our Brisbane Westside service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Gaythorne, Keperra, Arana Hills, Everton Park. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
