Going solar in Mitchelton
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Mitchelton is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Mitchelton: history and local area
Nicholas Mitchell's estate, called Mitchelton by 1875, gave the suburb its name, though St Matthews Anglican Church on the hill is older, built between 1867 and 1869. Subdivision began in the 1890s, and the Oxford Park Estate sold in 1913 near the coming railway. Grovely State School opened in 1916 and took the Mitchelton name in 1923.
Most of the suburb sits on a hillside facing north, and many Queenslanders line its leafy streets. Roughly 9,250 people live here, 9.6 km by road from the city. Mitchelton and Oxford Park stations sit on the Ferny Grove line, Brookside Shopping Centre is on Osborne Road, and the Kedron Brook bikeway is close by. Five schools operate within the suburb.
A north-facing slope is good news for solar, since many roofs here naturally angle toward the midday sun. Leafy streets still mean checking for overhanging trees before settling on panel placement.
