Solar Panels McDowall: local, honest, done right

Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every McDowall system around your roof, your shading and your bills.

A typical 6.6kW system in McDowall makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. McDowall is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning. We look after McDowall and the surrounding suburbs of Everton Park, Everton Hills and Chermside West, so a free on-site measure in 4053 is easy to book.

About McDowall

The council wanted to call this area Annand, after Colonel Frederick Annand, but locals preferred McDowall, the name already chosen for the new school, honouring early settler Colonel John McDowall. McDowall State School opened in January 1975 with 36 pupils and six teachers, and the suburb name was approved that same year. By 2018 the school had nearly 1,000 students.

Roughly 7,600 people live in McDowall, which covers 4.2 square kilometres about 12.8 km by road north of the CBD. McDowall Village on Beckett Road, anchored by a Drakes supermarket, handles everyday shopping. Several bus routes, including the Great Circle Line, connect to Chermside, Aspley and the city. High school students go to Craigslea, Everton Park or Albany Creek.

How much does solar cost in McDowall?

Most McDowall homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in McDowall?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in McDowall?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.

Do you service McDowall 4053 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. McDowall is part of our Brisbane Westside service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Everton Park, Everton Hills, Chermside West, Stafford Heights. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
