Solar panels for New Farm, planned around your home

Whether it is your first system or you are replacing an old one, we size solar for New Farm homes around real usage, not the biggest number we can fit on the roof.

A typical 6.6kW system in New Farm makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. New Farm is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter. From New Farm to nearby Hawthorne and Teneriffe, we quote every job in person so the price you sign is the price you pay.

  • Many New Farm homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Getting to know New Farm

The Turrbal people called this river bend Binkinba. Commandant Patrick Logan set up a new farm here in 1827 for the penal colony, and the name stuck. Samuel Griffith built his house, Merthyr, in 1870, and trams ran from 1885 until 1969. New Farm State School opened in 1901, a marine base operated here during World War II, and infill and gentrification reshaped the suburb from the 1990s.

The river surrounds much of New Farm, leaving road access only from Fortitude Valley and Newstead. New Farm Park fills the south eastern tip, beside the Brisbane Powerhouse, a former tram power station turned arts venue. Brunswick Street and Merthyr Village are full of cafés and shops. Housing ranges from colonial and Federation homes to art deco blocks, with units making up over 70 per cent of dwellings.

How much does solar cost in New Farm?

Most New Farm homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in New Farm?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in New Farm?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.

Do you service New Farm 4005 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. New Farm is part of our Inner Brisbane service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Hawthorne, Teneriffe, Kangaroo Point, East Brisbane. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
