Solar Panels Uki: local, honest, done right
Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every Uki system around your roof, your shading and your bills.
A typical 6.6kW system in Uki makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Uki is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage. We look after Uki and the surrounding suburbs of Dunbible, Stokers Siding and Murwillumbah, so a free on-site measure in 2484 is easy to book.
- Plenty of Uki properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

About Uki
Timber cutters chasing red cedar, along with dairy farmers, were the first settlers around Uki, and early 1900s photos show the surrounding hills almost bare of trees. When dairying was rationalised in the 1960s, many farms switched to beef cattle. The name may come from Bundjalung words for bandicoot or a small water plant, though one uncited story links it to 'UK 1', a grading mark on cedar sent to Britain.
Uki sits in the Tweed Valley near Mount Warning, with Mt Uki and The Sisters close by and Clarrie Hall Dam about 10 km away. The village has the Old Butter Factory, a primary school, post office, general store, bakery, pharmacy and cafes. The Mount Warning Hotel burned in February 2013 and reopened in mid-2015. Murwillumbah is about 15 minutes away by road.

Solar panels in Uki: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Uki?
Most Uki homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Uki?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Essential Energy export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Uki?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.
Do you service Uki 2484 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Uki is part of our Tweed Heads & Tweed Coast service area in the Tweed Shire Council area, and we regularly work in Dunbible, Stokers Siding, Murwillumbah, South Murwillumbah. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
