Going solar in Ascot
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Ascot is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Ascot homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Ascot: history and local area
Turrbal people called this area Yowoggerra. Convicts cleared land in the 1830s, James Sutherland bought a large holding in 1855, and Eagle Farm Racecourse opened in 1863. The name was a cheeky borrowing from England's famous racecourse. Trains reached the track in 1882 and trams in 1899. During World War II, US forces camped at the racecourse and the Central Bureau worked from the suburb.
Two racecourses, Eagle Farm and Doomben, take up more than a third of the suburb. Racecourse Road, shaded by poincianas, is the shopping and dining strip. Bartleys Hill rises to 78 metres in the south-west. Large Queenslanders are a feature, though nearly as many dwellings are flats or apartments. St Margaret's Anglican Girls School and Ascot State School are both here.
Large Queenslanders on Ascot's hillsides often run big air conditioning loads, so pairing a generous rooftop array with a battery can shift more of that evening cooling onto stored solar.
