Going solar in Hendra
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Hendra is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Hendra homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Hendra: history and local area
Farmers here once grew citrus, grapes and pineapples and ran dairies, spreading out from Nundah. A school opened in 1864 as Eagle Farm State School, renamed Hendra in 1908. The suburb's name came from the railway station, named in 1882, and is a Cornish word for an old hamlet. Subdivisions were auctioned in 1887, 1889 and 1926, when the area belonged to the Shire of Toombul.
Jacarandas and poincianas line the streets, and Kedron Brook runs through the suburb. Schulz Canal and the Airport Link mark the northern edge, with the racecourses to the south. Most homes are stand-alone houses, around 85% at the 2016 count. Families have Hendra State School, Aviation High and Our Lady Help of Christians, and local shops sit on Zillman Road.
With most homes being detached houses on their own blocks, there is usually room for a full-sized array, though mature jacarandas and poincianas can shade lower roofs during parts of the day.
