Going solar in Bulimba

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Bulimba is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Many Bulimba homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Bulimba: history and local area

Farming began here in the 1820s, when the district was called Toogoolawah. Bulimba reportedly comes from a Yugarapul word for place of the magpie lark. Churches went up in 1862 and 1866, and Bulimba Mixed School opened in July 1866. Land boom subdivisions followed in the 1880s, Jamieson Park was created in 1904 and the Norman R Wright and Sons shipyard began operating in the 1930s.

Along the southern bank of the Bulimba Reach, the suburb has ferries at Bulimba and Apollo Road and around sixteen parks, including Memorial and Riverside parks. Oxford Street is the dining and shopping strip, with a council library on the corner of Riding Road. A nine hole golf course, the Brisbane Sailing Squadron and HMAS Moreton are here too. Leafy streets hold traditional Queenslanders.

Leafy streets of traditional Queenslanders mean tin roofs that suit panels, though mature street trees can shade parts of a roof, so panel placement should follow where the sun actually lands through the year.
