Banksia Beach is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Being close to the water, Banksia Beach gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Banksia Beach: history and local area

Developer Jock McIlwain started Banksia Beach as an estate subdivision, and it was gazetted as a township in November 1972. The name is thought to come from the banksias that grow locally. A monument to Matthew Flinders was unveiled in 1988 for the Bicentenary, and the state school opened in 1992. Between 2016 and 2021 the population rose from about 6,000 to 7,180.

Almost all of the land on the island's western shore is residential, and the waterfront is given over to the Skippers and Voyagers canal estates, which replaced the old mouth of Dux Creek. The north has the Pacific Harbour golf course among the houses. Locals shop at Bribie Harbour Shopping Village, and Col Fisher Park, the arts centre and the bowls club are well used.

Canal homes on Banksia Beach tend to be large, low set and close to the water, which suits a good sized system with coastal grade fixings and a battery for evening air conditioning.
