Bongaree is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Being close to the water, Bongaree gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Bongaree: history and local area

Bongaree honours Bungaree, the Aboriginal explorer who sailed with Matthew Flinders. A school ran at the island's Aboriginal mission in 1891, and the provisional school that opened in 1924 became a state school a year later. Churches followed through the 1920s to 1940s. The 1963 bridge, tolled until 1975, brought steady growth, with a library in 1976 and the high school in 1989.

On the island's south western corner, Bongaree looks across Pumicestone Passage to the mainland and is linked to Sandstone Point by the bridge. The jetty is the classic spot for fishing and sunsets. Buckleys Hole Conservation Park, about 88 hectares of lagoon, woodland and beach, draws bushwalkers and anglers. Both of Bribie's state schools are here, along with the library and the Seaside Museum, opened in 2010.

Being right on the passage, Bongaree roofs take a lot of salt spray, so coastal rated hardware and a sheltered spot for the inverter help a system last in this setting.
