Edens Landing: history and local area
For decades this rise above the Logan was rural land known as Holmview Heights. Leighton Holdings developed it in 1984 and 1985, and the Place Names Board approved the name Edens Landing in November 1985 after a new railway station was funded. Boundaries were fixed in February 1986, and the local state school opened in January 1997.
Small and almost entirely residential, Edens Landing packs about 5,100 people into 2.6 square kilometres. Land rises from about 10 metres near the Logan River in the north-east to 90 metres toward the south-west, with Logan River Road along the far edges. The station on the Beenleigh line sits in the north, and a strip of shops on Castile Crescent has a pharmacy, medical centre and bakery. Most of the houses went up during the 1990s.
Houses built in the 1990s may now have older switchboards or early small systems, so an upgrade often means checking the board and replacing or expanding an aging inverter.
