Going solar in Pinjarra Hills

Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Pinjarra Hills is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Plenty of Pinjarra Hills properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Pinjarra Hills: history and local area

Patrick Mayne bought land here in the 1860s, and in 1923 his children gave it to the University of Queensland to teach agriculture as the Moggill Farm. A tuberculosis sanatorium on Moggill Road opened in 1945, later became a repatriation hospital, and was replaced by the Fairview War Veterans' Home in 1998. The suburb takes its name from Pinjarra Road, whose own origin is unknown.

Only 771 people lived here in 2021, on the northern bank of the Brisbane River 16.8 km by road from the CBD. The university's 282 hectare research site takes up a large share of the land between Pullenvale Road and the river. Everything else is rural residential. There are no schools, so children travel to Pullenvale State School or Kenmore State High.

Rural residential blocks here usually give enough space to put panels where the sun is best, on the roof or on a ground frame, and a battery helps ride through outages on the semi-rural edge of Brisbane.
