Going solar in Westlake
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Westlake is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Westlake: history and local area
An artificial lake built by the developers gave Westlake its name. LJ Hooker's Centenary Project began shaping the area in 1959, on land that had included part of the Wolston Estate auctioned in 1901. The name became official in January 1973. The Westlake Waters section came in the early 1990s, and locals soon formed bushcare groups to protect the riverfront bushland.
Substantial houses line the riverside streets, many backing onto bushland that residents have fought to keep since the early 1990s. Close to 4,550 people live on 2.2 square kilometres, bordering Riverhills, Middle Park and Mount Ommaney. The lake is the defining feature. There are no schools inside the suburb, so students head to Middle Park, Jamboree Heights or Centenary State High in Jindalee.
Large homes backing onto riverfront bushland can lose afternoon sun to tall trees, so careful panel placement or optimisers help. Bigger houses also tend to carry heavier evening loads that a battery can cover.
