Going solar in Mount Ommaney
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Mount Ommaney is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Mount Ommaney: history and local area
The hill, and later the suburb, remember John Mansell Ommaney, who died aged 20 after a riding accident in 1856. The land was part of the Wolston Estate offered for sale in 1901 as 54 farms across about 3,000 acres. Hooker's Centenary Project turned it into suburbia from 1959. A special school opened in 1992 and the library in 1997.
The suburb's namesake rises to 82 metres, and many hilltop houses look out over the city, the river or open country. Lots here are often bigger than 1,000 square metres. About 2,500 people live on 2.3 square kilometres, 15.8 km by road from the CBD. Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre has its own bus station, and a large protected forest runs along the riverbank.
Hilltop homes on lots over 1,000 square metres often catch sun all day with little overshadowing, which suits larger arrays, and a battery can carry evening air conditioning in bigger houses.
