Going solar in Taringa
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Taringa is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Taringa: history and local area
Two Aboriginal words, tarau for stones and nga for made up of, give the suburb its name, place of stones. When the Main Line opened in 1875 the local stop was called West Milton, renamed Taringa that same year. Estates were sold off between 1883 and 1886, a Baptist church went up in 1891, and the state school opened in 1900 before closing in 1996.
A ridge runs along Swann Road with steep slopes either side, so many streets here climb or drop sharply. About 8,700 people live on just 2.1 square kilometres, 6.8 km by road from the CBD. Shops line Moggill Road, trains stop at Taringa station, and the Taringa Rovers play in the Brisbane Premier League. Detached Queenslanders make up much of the housing.
Steep streets mean neighbouring houses and trees can shade a roof for part of the day, so panel placement really matters. Many older Queenslanders have tin roofs that are easy to mount on.
