Solar Panels Coolangatta: local, honest, done right
Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every Coolangatta system around your roof, your shading and your bills.
A typical 6.6kW system in Coolangatta makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Coolangatta is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage. We look after Coolangatta and the surrounding suburbs of Bilinga, Tweed Heads and Kirra, so a free on-site measure in 4225 is easy to book.
- Being close to the water, Coolangatta gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

About Coolangatta
Europeans were here from at least 1828, first at a convict station and then as red cedar getters. Surveyor Henry Schneider laid out the township in 1883, naming it after the schooner Coolangatta, wrecked on the beach in August 1846, and land sold in March 1884. The railway's arrival in 1903 turned it into a holiday town, and it became the Town of Coolangatta in 1914.
Packed into just 1.8 square kilometres, Coolangatta runs from Kirra Hill to Point Danger on the border, taking in Kirra, Coolangatta and Greenmount beaches. Snapper Rocks, the Point Danger Lighthouse and the Kirra Hill Cultural and Community Centre are local fixtures, and the Strand Shopping Centre holds the library. Four surf clubs patrol the beaches, and about 6,500 people lived here in 2021.

Solar panels in Coolangatta: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Coolangatta?
Most Coolangatta homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Coolangatta?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Coolangatta?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.
Do you service Coolangatta 4225 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Coolangatta is part of our Southern Gold Coast service area in the City of Gold Coast area, and we regularly work in Bilinga, Tweed Heads, Kirra, Tugun. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
