Solar Panels Tweed Heads: local, honest, done right
Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every Tweed Heads system around your roof, your shading and your bills.
A typical 6.6kW system in Tweed Heads makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Tweed Heads is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage. We look after Tweed Heads and the surrounding suburbs of Tweed Heads West, Kirra and Coolangatta, so a free on-site measure in 2485 is easy to book.
- Being close to the water, Tweed Heads gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

About Tweed Heads
Cedar cutters were working the Tweed Valley by 1844, two decades after John Oxley passed through in 1823. Dairying, cane and bananas followed, and the first school opened in 1871. The Boyd Estate went to auction in 1888 and the railway arrived in 1903. Locals called the town Tweed Heads from the early 1900s, though the old name Cooloon, from a Yugambeh-Bundjalung word, wasn't formally dropped until 1965.
The town sits right on the state border, where Terranora Creek meets the mouth of the Tweed River. Around 8,200 people live in the suburb itself, part of an urban area of more than 63,000. The marina, Chris Cunningham Park with its war memorial and Twin Towns Clubs & Resorts are local fixtures. With 14 retirement villages, it is one of the region's main retirement hubs.

Solar panels in Tweed Heads: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Tweed Heads?
Most Tweed Heads homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Tweed Heads?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Essential Energy export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Tweed Heads?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.
Do you service Tweed Heads 2485 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Tweed Heads is part of our Tweed Heads & Tweed Coast service area in the Tweed Shire Council area, and we regularly work in Tweed Heads West, Kirra, Coolangatta, Bilinga. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
