Solar Panels Rainbow Bay: local, honest, done right
Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every Rainbow Bay system around your roof, your shading and your bills.
A typical 6.6kW system in Rainbow Bay makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Rainbow Bay is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage. We look after Rainbow Bay and the surrounding suburbs of Kirra, Tweed Heads and Tweed Heads South, so a free on-site measure in 4225 is easy to book.
- Being close to the water, Rainbow Bay gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

About Rainbow Bay
Before 1925 this little bay at the southern end of Coolangatta was unofficially called Shark Bay. The Point Danger Progress Association asked the Coolangatta Town Council for a change, and the new name was approved on 31 May 1925, with signs up by August. It is believed to honour HMS Rainbow, the frigate from which Captain Henry John Rous surveyed Point Danger in 1828.
The bay sits beside Point Danger and Snapper Rocks, looking back up the coast to the Gold Coast skyline. It is part of the famous Superbank surf break, which draws surfers to nearby Snapper Rocks and Greenmount Beach, while families like the sheltered water and lack of rips. Rainbow Bay Surf Lifesaving Club is based near Snapper Rocks.

Solar panels in Rainbow Bay: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Rainbow Bay?
Most Rainbow Bay homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Rainbow Bay?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Rainbow Bay?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.
Do you service Rainbow Bay 4225 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Rainbow Bay is part of our Southern Gold Coast service area in the City of Gold Coast area, and we regularly work in Kirra, Tweed Heads, Tweed Heads South, Coolangatta. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
