Why Darra homes choose RS Energy for solar panels

Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Darra quote starts with a free measure of your roof.

A typical 6.6kW system in Darra makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Darra is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake. Our solar panels work in Darra also covers neighbouring Seventeen Mile Rocks, Sumner and Jamboree Heights, all within about 2km.

Darra: a local snapshot

Darra took its name from the railway station, named in 1876, though even the railways were unsure of its meaning by 1914. Land was first subdivided in 1864, and part of the Wolston Estate went to auction in 1901 with few takers. A cement works opened in 1914 and operated until 1998. From 1975, Vietnamese refugees began settling here, shaping the suburb's character ever since.

The Ipswich and Centenary motorways meet in the south west corner, about 18.5 km from the city by road. Industrial estates ring the north west, east and south, with homes in between. Many houses are Queenslanders from the 1940s and 1950s, and larger blocks are being split for new homes and townhouses. The Linh Son Temple, Darra station and Brisbane Technology Park are local landmarks.

How much does solar cost in Darra?

Most Darra homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in Darra?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Darra?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.

Do you service Darra 4076 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Darra is part of our Brisbane Southside service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Seventeen Mile Rocks, Sumner, Jamboree Heights, Richlands. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
