Why Lota homes choose RS Energy for solar panels

Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Lota quote starts with a free measure of your roof.

A typical 6.6kW system in Lota makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Lota is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Brisbane's bayside east, from Wynnum and Manly through Tingalpa and Wakerley, mixes breezy bayfront homes with quieter family streets, and salt air near the water is a real design consideration. Our solar panels work in Lota also covers neighbouring Manly West, Ransome and Manly, all within about 2km.

  • Being close to the water, Lota gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Lota: a local snapshot

The Mipirimm subclan of the Quandamooka people lived here before William Duckett White took up the land in 1860. His home, Lota House, was finished in 1863 and lent the suburb its name. Trains arrived in 1889, and Lota served as the end of the line from 1960 until the Cleveland link reopened in stages in the 1980s. Subdivision began in 1911.

Lota Creek marks the southern edge before draining into Moreton Bay, and the shoreline is mostly mangroves and mudflats around Fig Tree Point. About 3,500 people live on 3.5 square kilometres, 19.7 km east of the CBD. Lota Foreshore Park has playgrounds and sculptures, there is a boardwalk over the creek, and Bayside United plays at Don Randall Oval.

How much does solar cost in Lota?

Most Lota homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in Lota?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Lota?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.

Do you service Lota 4179 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Lota is part of our Brisbane Bayside East service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Manly West, Ransome, Manly, Wakerley. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
