Solar panels in Thorneside, installed properly
A family solar company that measures your roof, explains the numbers and installs it right the first time.
Why Thorneside homes choose RS Energy for solar panels
Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Thorneside quote starts with a free measure of your roof.
A typical 6.6kW system in Thorneside makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Thorneside is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
The Redlands coast runs from Capalaba and Birkdale through Cleveland and Victoria Point to Redland Bay and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with plenty of larger blocks around Mount Cotton and Sheldon. Our solar panels work in Thorneside also covers neighbouring Ransome, Birkdale and Lota, all within about 3km.
- Being close to the water, Thorneside gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Thorneside: a local snapshot
Back in 1913 this was Thorne's estate, carved into lots for sale. The suburb borrows its name from the railway station, which began life as Thorne's siding after landholder William Thorne. Housing estates grew up mainly along Thorneside and Mooroondu Roads, giving the place the compact residential layout it has today.
At just 3.2 square kilometres, this is a small bayside spot on Waterloo Bay, with Tingalpa Creek along the west and Mooroondu Point at the creek mouth. Queens Esplanade has a boat ramp, and a canoe club operates beside the creek. William Taylor Memorial Sportsfield caters for soccer, netball, cricket and tennis, and the Cleveland line stops at Thorneside station.

Solar panels in Thorneside: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Thorneside?
Most Thorneside homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Thorneside?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Thorneside?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.
Do you service Thorneside 4158 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Thorneside is part of our Redlands service area in the Redland City Council area, and we regularly work in Ransome, Birkdale, Lota, Wakerley. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
