Solar panels in Mount Cotton, installed properly
A family solar company that measures your roof, explains the numbers and installs it right the first time.
Why Mount Cotton homes choose RS Energy for solar panels
Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Mount Cotton quote starts with a free measure of your roof.
A typical 6.6kW system in Mount Cotton makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Mount Cotton is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
The Redlands coast runs from Capalaba and Birkdale through Cleveland and Victoria Point to Redland Bay and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with plenty of larger blocks around Mount Cotton and Sheldon. Our solar panels work in Mount Cotton also covers neighbouring Cornubia, Sheldon and Shailer Park, all within about 5km.
- Plenty of Mount Cotton properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Mount Cotton: a local snapshot
German families settled here in the late 1860s, forming a Lutheran congregation in 1872 and dedicating their first church in 1875. Surveyor Robert Dixon named the peak after Major Sydney Cotton, commandant of the Moreton Bay penal settlement. Poultry farms followed from 1933, a motor racing hillclimb opened in 1968, and Sirromet Winery arrived in 2000. New housing estates have spread in recent years.
The mountain itself climbs to 233 metres in the middle of the locality, and the whole area is a koala conservation zone. Venman Bushland National Park protects bush along Tingalpa Creek in the west, with a wildlife corridor heading toward Eprapah Creek. Sirromet Winery, the 946 metre hillclimb circuit and St Paul's Lutheran Church are well-known spots.

Solar panels in Mount Cotton: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Mount Cotton?
Most Mount Cotton homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Mount Cotton?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Mount Cotton?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.
Do you service Mount Cotton 4165 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Mount Cotton is part of our Redlands service area in the Redland City Council area, and we regularly work in Cornubia, Sheldon, Shailer Park, Priestdale. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
