Going solar in Rainbow Bay
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Rainbow Bay is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Being close to the water, Rainbow Bay gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Rainbow Bay: history and local area
Before 1925 this little bay at the southern end of Coolangatta was unofficially called Shark Bay. The Point Danger Progress Association asked the Coolangatta Town Council for a change, and the new name was approved on 31 May 1925, with signs up by August. It is believed to honour HMS Rainbow, the frigate from which Captain Henry John Rous surveyed Point Danger in 1828.
The bay sits beside Point Danger and Snapper Rocks, looking back up the coast to the Gold Coast skyline. It is part of the famous Superbank surf break, which draws surfers to nearby Snapper Rocks and Greenmount Beach, while families like the sheltered water and lack of rips. Rainbow Bay Surf Lifesaving Club is based near Snapper Rocks.
On the exposed stretch around Point Danger, rooftop systems face strong sea breezes and salt, so wind-rated mounting, marine-grade fixings and inverters installed in sheltered spots are worth insisting on.
