Going solar in Banora Point
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Banora Point is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.

Banora Point: history and local area
The Ngandowal and Minyungbal-speaking Bundjalung people are the traditional owners of this stretch of the lower Tweed. In modern times Banora Point has grown into a largely suburban community, with its eastern boundary following the Tweed River and the Pacific Motorway running through its eastern parts. Families and retirees make up much of the population, and the suburb has become a small business hub for the area.
More than 16,000 people lived here at the 2021 count. A golf course sits near the middle of the suburb as part of Club Banora, which also runs bowling greens, tennis courts and a snooker club. Three shopping villages cover day-to-day needs, and schooling runs from Banora Point, Centaur and St James primary schools through to Banora Point High School and St Joseph's College. Several islands dot the river along its edge.
Banora Point's mix of families and retirees means two quite different load profiles: busy evenings with kids at home, or steady daytime use by people who are home all day, which shapes whether a battery is worth adding.
