Bilambil Heights: history and local area
Bilambil Heights lies within the traditional lands of the Ngandowal and Minyungbal-speaking Bundjalung people. The written record says little about when the suburb was first developed or how it came by its name. What is known is that it belongs to Tweed Shire in north-eastern New South Wales and shares the 2486 postcode with Bilambil, Terranora and Banora Point.
About 3,500 people lived in Bilambil Heights at the 2021 census, with a median age of 44, a few years older than the national figure of 38. Close to 79 per cent of residents were born in Australia and 88 per cent speak only English at home. It votes in the Tweed state electorate and the federal Division of Richmond.
With a slightly older population than the national average, many homes here have someone around through the day, which makes it easier to use solar power as it is generated before deciding whether a battery adds enough value.
