Going solar in Terranora
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Terranora is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Plenty of Terranora properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Terranora: history and local area
Cedar-getters were the first Europeans to work this area, arriving in the 1850s. The name is thought to come from a Bundjalung word meaning 'small river' or 'small estuary', and early records spell it Taranora. These days it is counted as a suburb of Tweed Heads, sitting within Tweed Shire and sharing the 2486 postcode with Banora Point and Bilambil.
Roughly 3,400 residents lived in Terranora in 2021. Two schools shape local life here: Terranora Public School and the senior campus of Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, so school runs set the rhythm of many mornings and afternoons. At state level it falls in the Tweed electorate, and federally in the Division of Richmond, as part of the wider Tweed Heads urban area.
With two schools in the suburb, plenty of homes are busy at drop-off and again after school, so it is worth sizing solar and any battery around those morning and evening peaks rather than midday use alone.
