Going solar in Kingscliff
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Kingscliff is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Being close to the water, Kingscliff gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Kingscliff: history and local area
Around the 1870s Carl Hans Gaenshirt bought land here, planted a vineyard and built a cottage. After his death, large-scale subdivision got under way in 1915. Cook had called the point Sutherland Point in 1770, and it was later known as Cudgen Headland, before Kingscliff was adopted in 1926, borrowed from a nearby estate to avoid mix-ups with Cudgen.
Marine Parade is the heart of town, lined with cafes, shops and places to stay that look across to the beach and the creek. Bike paths and an oceanway run through foreshore parks, and the revitalisation project that began in 2016 added a seawall against erosion. Locals play soccer at Walter Peate Oval and rugby league at Ned Byrne Field, home of the Cudgen Hornets.
With so much holiday accommodation in town, solar helps short-stay owners trim running costs, and corrosion-resistant panels and fixings are worth the extra money this close to the surf.
