Going solar in Bonogin
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Bonogin is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Plenty of Bonogin properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Bonogin: history and local area
Europeans arrived in the 1870s, working timber and dairy before bananas were planted. In the 1980s some of the old farms were cut up into acreage residential lots, which set the pattern for the area today. The name's origin is unknown, though one suggestion is an Aboriginal word for red bloodwood.
Bonogin sits on the edge of the Gold Coast hinterland, with Bonogin Creek running through it and Davenport Park along a lower stretch of the creek. A council mobile library calls at the park every fortnight, and there is a general store. There are no schools within the suburb, so children travel to Mudgeeraba or Robina. Nearly 4,900 people lived here in 2021.
Acreage lots across Bonogin often have room for ground-mounted panels clear of tall trees, and properties with pumps and sheds can use plenty of daytime power, which suits larger systems with battery backup.
