Going solar in Brookfield

Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Brookfield is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Plenty of Brookfield properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Brookfield: history and local area

Loggers and farmers moved in from 1869, the same year a Bible Christian congregation formed. Lucinda Brimblecombe is believed to have named the place after the way Moggill Creek wound through it. The state school opened in March 1871, the post office in 1876 and the Church of the Good Shepherd was consecrated in 1893. The first Brookfield Show was held in 1910.

Spread over 20.6 square kilometres, Brookfield is rural residential country, mostly acreage and large homes with a handful of working farms. About 3,640 people live here, roughly 13 km west of the city. Moggill Creek runs through on its way to the river, and the forested hills of D'Aguilar National Park rise to the north. The general store, public hall and showgrounds remain community hubs.

Acreage blocks give room for ground-mounted arrays where roofs are shaded by gum trees, and bigger homes with pools or sheds can justify larger systems. A battery is useful for backup if storms bring down lines.
