The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Cobaki Lakes is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Newer homes in Cobaki Lakes usually have clean, unshaded roofs and modern switchboards, which keeps installs quick. Estate covenants rarely restrict solar, but we check before we quote.

Cobaki Lakes: history and local area
Cobaki Lakes sits on Bundjalung country right beside the NSW and Queensland border. Its modern chapter began in May 2011, when the Northern Joint Regional Planning Panel, working with Tweed Shire, gave its approval for the area's development. Only 42 residents were recorded in 2016, so much of its story as a residential suburb is still being written.
The locality lies about 5 metres above sea level, around 10 km west of Tweed Heads and 24 km south-east of Surfers Paradise. It belongs to Tweed Shire and falls within the Tweed state electorate and the federal Division of Richmond, with Brisbane roughly 101 km to the north. It shares the 2486 postcode with Banora Point and Terranora.
New homes in a planned estate are the easiest place to get solar right from the start, with roof orientation, switchboard space and battery-ready wiring sorted before the plasterboard goes on.
