Going solar in Tugun
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Tugun is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Being close to the water, Tugun gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Tugun: history and local area
Tugun's name is believed to come from an Indigenous word meaning 'breaking waves'. The Baptist church opened in February 1925, and by around 1926 homes were dotted through the sandhills behind the beach. St Monica's Catholic Church followed in 1959 and the bowls club in 1967. More recently, the Tugun Bypass opened in June 2008, easing traffic through the area.
Tugun Beach stretches from Flat Rock, on the Currumbin border, down to Bilinga, with holiday units and motels along the shore and shops on Golden Four Drive. Tugun Heights, in the west, is the higher ground. The suburb has around 20 parks, including the Tugun Hill Conservation Area, and is home to John Flynn Private Hospital, the surf club and a three-green bowls club.
Homes up in Tugun Heights tend to catch clear sun above the beachfront buildings, while those near the sand need salt-rated gear, so the right setup can differ a lot from one street to the next.
