Going solar in Currumbin Valley

The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage.

Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.

Currumbin Valley is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Plenty of Currumbin Valley properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Currumbin Valley: history and local area

Timber getting and grazing brought the first settlers in the 1840s. Bananas, sugar and dairy farms followed through the 1870s and 1880s, and the railway sparked further growth in the early 1900s. The Currumbin Upper Provisional School opened in 1908 and the Presbyterian church in 1927. Development picked up from the 1970s, and new homes drove strong growth in the 1990s.

The valley runs about 24 km long and 4 km wide along Currumbin Creek Road toward Mt Cougal in Springbrook National Park, with World Heritage-listed rainforest and Cougal Cascades nearby. The rock pool sits around 12 km inland from the beach. It is mostly rural with some residential land, and the local state school had 171 students in 2018.

Rural blocks in a long, narrow valley can lose morning or afternoon sun behind ridges and rainforest, so many properties suit a ground-mounted array placed for the best sun, with a battery for outages.
