Going solar in Kalinga
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Kalinga is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Kalinga homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Kalinga: history and local area
The name comes from Ngalinnga, probably a Turrbal word meaning belonging to us. Justice Alfred Lutwyche once owned this land, and his home, Kedron Lodge, still stands and is heritage-listed. The Kedron Park Estate went to auction in October 1888. Trams ran here from 1927 to 1962, and the war memorial gates at Kalinga Park opened in 1920. It only became its own suburb, split from Wooloowin, in 2015.
Flat land about 10 metres above sea level, with Kedron Brook, a bikeway and footbridges along the north. The Airport Link tunnel runs underneath without you knowing. Homes are a mix of small apartment blocks and stand-alone houses, some of them older Queenslanders. Kalinga Park is the big green space, and the bowls club sits in Melrose Park.
Flat, low-lying blocks near Kedron Brook mean flood planning matters, so mounting inverters and batteries up high on a wall is a smart move for Queenslanders on stumps.
